You’ve already started searching in the right place, Sonoma county is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Its the perfect location the options here are endless.
I’ll just jump right in.
I’ll just jump right in.
#1. The Beach
More specifically Bodega Bay, Sonoma county has miles of breathtaking coastline. Sandy beaches filled with tall grass, rocky cliffs with unbelievable views. This article below has all of the details and maps!
The salty air gives your hair those nice beachy waves, and the breeze creates beautiful movement sure to compliment a romantic flower dress! Code for be ready for the wind :)
If you'd like to avoid the wind I strongly suggest mornings for beach sessions, no wind and no people!
#2. The Redwoods
Have you ever heard of a forrest bath? If you have experienced it you understand. There is something so refreshing about the forrest air! Fortunate for us there are a few redwood forrest here in Sonoma County. One of our most popular is Armstrong Woods. If you are looking at being completely surrounded this is the place. You can also find smaller groves at several of our local parks, one of my favorites is River Front Regional Park
Bring your flannels, hiking boots and cozy turtlenecks.
#3. Winery. There are 100s to choose from, all of them equally gorgeous. Some with unique landscaping and or architecture and the one always stunning feature they all have in common are the rows of vines! Keep in mind these are seasonal, if you plan a winter wedding here in Sonoma County the vines will be bare! But there are a few different times of year when the vines really put on a show.
- Late winter-early spring the mustard flowers are in bloom in-between the vines
-Summer the vines are green and overflowing with fruit just before the early fall harvest
And for maybe their most glorious moments....
-Fall the colors are unreal!
2 of my favorites
Paradise Ridge Winery (art sculptures)
and
Cline Family Cellars (unique landscaping)
This list could get really long....if you'd like more recommendations reach out here
Wineries can be good for a dressy formal look and/or a more casual outfit choice. Making them one of my favorite choices.
#4 The Downtown Square
You could drive through almost every little town in Sonoma County and be charmed by the downtown area. Most of them filled with old buildings and amazing architecture that have witnessed generations. (Petaluma) Or old warehouses that have been rebuilt and modernized to encourage community gathering. (Sebastopol The Barlow)
If you are looking for a semi urban area we've got you covered. These downtown areas make great backdrops for a more formal look, and also make for fun night time shoots.
#5 The Rolling Hills.
Late fall when our hills all turn bight green I always imagine them looking just like Ireland. :) (I hope to confirm this in person someday) They are stunning! And in the summer when they are different shades of yellow and brown, they are just as glorious! Sprinkled with rocks and trees the create an ideal backdrop to showcase your love.
A pretty flowy dress and some tall boots look amazing here anytime of year! For 15% off of my favorite dress shop Baltic Born click here.
