How to pick out the perfect Engagement Ring!
I helped Kerr pick out the exact ring he proposed with. We were shopping at the Mall and popped into a jewelry store and started trying them on, I found the perfect ring and we walked out of the store without it. I didn't think too much about it, 1. I was young and SUPER Naive! 2. We had looked before so I figured it just wasn't time yet. We contuined with our shopping, then Kerr claimed to have gotten a page (LOL before cell phones) from his mom and he needed to go find a pay phone call her. He actually ran back to the store and bought the ring!
Later that evening we went to the beach, (the same place we went on our 1st date) and sitting on a blanket in the sand Kerr asked me to be his wife! That was 25 years ago!
I Strongly suggest this method! If you really want it to be a surprise you may have to get clever about getting their opinions on a few of these basics!
Diamond Shape, diamonds come in all shapes and sizes...... round cut, princess cut, my favorite emerald cut.
I had no idea there were so many options! Brides.com does an amazing job of explaining the differences.
Did you know that round cut is most popular because it creates the most sparkle?
Gold, but what color gold? Rose, white, yellow? Marrow fine.com gives a detailed breakdown on the differences and how to choose the right color for you! I recently acquired this vintage 2 tone ring that I absolutely love, the white gold setting is supposed to show off the brilliance of the diamonds better!
Size: If you've ever been told size doesn't matter, then you've been lied to ;)
It absolutely matters, and its all about personal preference. When I was choosing my ring I knew I would be wearing it everyday all day so I didn't want anything to big that would be snagging on things. Some ladies prefer something that stands out a little! Make sure thats part of your conversation! This is also most likely where budget is going to come into play, remember its lasting a lifetime. Can you really put a price tag on that?
Brilliance.com has a great chart showing common sizes.
Ring Size: Your fiancé to be may already know their size, but if not Kay.com has some tips on how to get the right measurement. Most rings are pretty easy to resize, but how great would it be for the ring to be a perfect fit. No need to send it out, you can start showing it off right away!.
I hope this little list helps! Best of luck! Don't forget, if you would like this big moment photographed I would love help!
