Living in Sonoma County we are blessed with several little micro climates and terrain! The variety is one of my favorite things about living here.
So the options are limitless with great places to photograph. Below are a few of my regular locations for you to choose from.
Also I am always excited to learn about new areas so if you have something in mind please let me know! Please fill out form all the way at the bottom.
1st up is My hometown. Do you love where you'r from? I do! I Love exploring our downtown area. The different architecture, landscaping and art work all make perfect backdrops for portraits. Especially for this time in your life, these locations are probably near and dear to your childhood and you may be leaving them for a little while when you go off to school!
Each little town in our county has a unique urban look it. Photographing in these areas is always fun time.
These areas are for the extroverts :) the kids that don't mind a small audience. We will get looks and have to talk to people. Most of the time that just adds to the fun!
There are a handful of parks that I use often. We can choose one close to you, or if you have a specific look we can choose based on that!
Some parks are known for their Redwoods, some their Oaks, others big open fields. A few of them have all of the above plus! If you choose this option please remember to include in the notes section what your favorite park is.
Do you love flowers? I have a few seasonally available flower gardens that are always a hit! Roses, wildflowers, Dahlias your choice! We have to make sure we time these right. One of the best reasons to plan early.
One of the main reasons I don't ever want to live any where else is the beach! We are so close and if you love it we should take some photos there! There is enough variety in landscapes there to get a full session all in walking distance. We can choose a rocky beach or a beach with lots of dunes. Which ever your preference we want to time this session correctly to avoid harsh light and the wind. I always recommend mornings for beach sessions for this reason.
Another amazing trait of Sonoma County is all of the Redwood Trees. The are everywhere and beautiful. If you are some one who loves hiking and the beauty of the outdoors this might be the place you choose.
The Fall grape vines put on a show like no other agriculture in our area! People travel from all over the world to see our fall grape vines! They make a stunning backdrop. Not a ton of variety so I encourage to have more then one location or option with this choice, it pairs well with Barns. My most poplar grape vines also have barns on the property that make for a quick change.
Do you live on a farm? Farms offer amazing variety! Theres so many unique textures, buildings and landscapes.
Don't live on a farm but want a farm yard look? You'r in luck I have a barn, and access to a few. The old redwood or the peeling white paint of the barn walls is the perfect backdrop for any session. In fact studios buy backdrops that look like them!
Please add in the notes if you prefer old wood or old peeling paint.
This location is especially popular for Athletes. Photographing at a location where you have spend so much of your time in high school is the perfect way to document your Senior year!
Not an Athlete but love your school? School campuses always have fun Architecture and landscaping, I love walking around hearing about all of your favorite spots.
